A skier's dream

From the 22nd of January to February 1991 the Alpine Ski World Championships took place in Saalbach Hinterglemm. It was the biggest international event ever seen by the region with excellent weather conditions helping to make the event a huge success.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm is a skier’s dream, featuring a network of pistes and perfect powder. There’s also plenty to do in the summer months, like hiking, mountain biking, geocaching or exploring the mountain forest from above, via a “treetop path” that’s a series of bridges, platforms and towers.

In 2015 Saalbach-Hinterglemm successfully staged World Cup Downhill and Super G slalom events.
